hiking trail Voralpiner Weitwanderweg 04
The Voralpenweg (also “Österreichischer Weitwanderweg 04”) is a long-distance hiking path from Vienna to Salzburg, connecting with the Maximiliansweg in Bavaria and continuing all the way to Bregenz.
Coming from the east of Austria, the route leads over the Gaisberg and Kapuzinerberg into the Salzburg historic district, then over the Festungsberg and via the Leopoldskroner Allee to Moosstraße, and alongside the Glan to Fürstenbrunn.
This family-friendly long-distance hiking route – which is a variant of the European Long-Distance Hiking Path E4 – has a total length of 201 km. Mostly significantly below 2000 meters above sea level, it leads through hilly and occasionally rocky countryside. In some places, surefootedness and a head for heights are essential.
