DB – German Rail

Due to its proximity to the border, Salzburg's main railway station is owned not only by the ÖBB [Austrian Federal Railway] but also by Deutsche Bahn. This means that DB's national fares, including all the discounts, apply not only in Germany, but all the way to Salzburg.

Comfortable and environmentally friendly

Travelling to Salzburg by train is not only sustainable and environmentally friendly, but the high frequency and attractive discounts make it a modern alternative to cars and flights, even for longer distances such as Berlin-Salzburg.

When you arrive, it is worth stopping by at the Tourist Information directly at Salzburg Main Station. Here you can acquire the Salzburg Card, which allows visitors to the Mozart town to use public transport (except the S-Bahn) free of charge.

The journey from Munich to Salzburg takes between one and a half and two hours. Salzburg can be reached daily by at least 17 fast long-distance trains and numerous trains via Munich with connections to many regional trains in a relaxed and environmentally friendly manner.

For Salzburg as a border station, all offers & tariffs apply as for national transport of Deutsche Bahn. Thanks to the Sparpreis offers, the BahnCard, the Deutschland-Ticket or the Bayernticket, rail passengers also benefit from the almost endless possibilities in terms of price.

To Salzburg with Sparpreis Europa

With the Sparpreis Europa and the Super Sparpreis Europa from Deutsche Bahn, passengers can travel to Salzburg on long-distance services from Euro 19,90. The offer is particularly attractive for families, as their own children under the age of 15 travel free of charge. Business travellers also appreciate the convenience of travelling with internet access as well as an on-board restaurant on long-distance trains.

To Salzburg with the Deutschland-Ticket

Holders of the new Deutschland-Ticket (D-Ticket) can now also travel comfortably on the means of local public transport (except Bus 840) from Germany to Salzburg Central Station.

To Salzburg with the Bayernticket

A popular offer for rail passengers is the Bayernticket, which includes up to five travellers on one day on all local trains, transport alliances and almost all scheduled buses in Bavaria. The ticket costs from 27 euros per person, plus nine euros per additional passenger, and is also valid across borders on local trains to Salzburg main station.
