Bilderwende, Zeitenwende
History of early photography in Salzburg (1839-1878)
Salzburg Museum Guest Performance
As the result of a multi-year research project, the exhibition Bilderwende. Zeitenwende provides extensive insights into the history of early photography in Salzburg. The exhibition spans an arc from the beginnings of the new medium in the 1840s to its broad penetration of society, culture and everyday life in the 1870s. The overall project thus also encompasses a highly significant period in the history of Salzburg when the prince-archbishop's residence city was redefined as an urban space of bourgeois culture.
