Arrival & Mobility
Salzburg sits in the heart of Austria, at the center of Europe, and is easy to reach—whether by car, train, or plane. Please note: Starting July 1, 2026, the Old Town will be largely closed to regular traffic, with limited car access in exceptional cases. The most convenient way to explore the historic center is by using the Park & Ride system, which includes public transportation. The Guest Mobility Ticket allows overnight guests to use public transportation throughout Salzburg free of charge during their stay.
Travel to Salzburg
Due to its ideal location between Munich and Vienna, Salzburg is readily accessible from every direction. The modern train station, an airport close to downtown, plus the many local and long-distance bus connections, make it easy to travel into the City of Mozart.
Local Mobility
Salzburg isn’t a huge city, which means that many different attractions are easy to reach on foot. For longer distances, public transportation is the perfect option. In nice weather, many of those same routes can be traveled safely and enjoyably by bicycle.
Salzburg Verkehr - Guest Mobility Ticket

It is valid for the entire duration of your stay and allows unlimited use of public transportation throughout the Salzburg region—from city transit and regional buses to S-Bahn trains, as well as regional and long-distance rail services and on-demand public transport services.
