The Colours of La Serenissima
Venetian masters from the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna
To mark its 10th anniversary, the DomQuartier Salzburg will present a comprehensive exhibition in the Residenzgalerie, portraying the town and the society of Venice.
The Colours of La Serenissima. Venetian masters from the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna will focus on the fundamental developments in Venetian art from the Renaissance to the Rococo. Selected paintings will be shown, as well as examples from other genres, such as tapestries, bronzes, suits of armour and virtuoso or curios artefacts from the former imperial family's legendary cabinet of curiosities – the most outstanding of its kind in the world.
The Colours of La Serenissima is the first exclusive exhibition in Salzburg from the inventories of the former imperial collections, as well as the first exhibition produced under the direction of Andrea Stockhammer, the DomQuartier's new director.
