Keltenblitz Alpine Slide in Hallein
If you are here in summertime and you are craving an extra adrenaline kick, we suggest making the short, 15 min drive to Hallein. The Alpine slide there is the longest in the province and includes an absolutely marvelous view of the Salzach River Valley. A 2.2 km ride on sleds you can control yourself, for an exhilarating adventure all the way down to the valley. Exciting curves, steep slopes and scenery beyond compare, stretching from the Salzach River Valley to the surrounding mountains, make the Keltenblitz a huge hit with the whole family. Salzburg Card holders also receive a discount on the ticket price.
The sleds on this Alpine slide can reach speeds up to 40 km/h. Children 6 and up get to ride on their own, whilst younger kids must sit with a parent. Needless to say, safety is a top priority and the Alpine slide is not open in bad weather.
The Dürrnberg is a mountain just outside Hallein, roughly a 20 min drive south of Salzburg. You can park next to the valley station of the Zinken Lifts, then take the chairlift to the top of the 1340 m high Zinkenkogel. Before beginning the actual ride on the Alpine slide, we suggest enjoying refreshments at the Zinkenstüberl, a mountain inn open year-round.
