Your venue - Mirabell Gardens
Musicians and artists are guaranteed an interested audience due to the popularity of Mirabell Palace, and the gardens’ close proximity to the stops used by local sightseeing tour operators.
The famous gardens of Schloss Mirabell Palace are one of the most commonly visited sights in Salzburg. The palace itself was built in 1610 and was a gift from Prince Bishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau for his beloved Salome Alt. In 1690 the garden was redesigned and changes were constantly made up until 1730. The four groups of figures around the fountain from 1690 symbolising the four elements, and the Pegasus fountain from 1913, are popular subjects for pictures and achieved world fame in the 1960s film ‘The Sound of Music.
The concert venue is located behind the spring fountain in the western part of Mirabell Gardens, next to the hedge theatre. This provides choirs and musical ensembles with an opportunity to perform in a public place.
Concert venue
Concerts are held in the outdoor area between the hedged path and the tree-lined path (see red dot on the plan). At 12m x 14m the space offers almost 170m², half of which is well-lit. In the summer the trees provide excellent shade. Please restrict your movements to this section of Mirabell Gardens.
Facilities
The venue is out in the open air. There is no roofing available at the venue and there is no alternative venue for bad weather. All music stands, instruments and sound engineering equipment must be provided by performers. There is no stage.
Marching bands: In principle, performances by marching bands are possible in the Mirabell Gardens if the size and nature of the performance can be agreed with Tourismus Salzburg GmbH. Marching bands wishing to play in any other public places within the city or in the old part of the town must be approved by the city administration, and by the offices responsible for roads and traffic
