Bus regulations – access/events

--> Access via Neutor to Hofstallgasse will be unavailable from September 14, 2026, due to construction work until approximately the end of March 2027!

For tour buses with visitors to events in the festival district, the following applies during the total closure of Neutor:

• Primarily use the bus terminals Nonntal and Paris Lodron Straße
• Due to height restrictions at Klausentor and in Münzgasse, access to Hofstallgasse is only possible for vehicles with a maximum height of 3.70 m (minibuses) – only with a bus vignette (exclusively for boarding and alighting, one hour before to one hour after the event). Access in this case is via the Staatsbrücke or over Mülln. These trips are exempt from the city center bus driving ban.
• Expect delays due to construction!
• No parking available in Hofstallgasse
  Due to the construction site, parking in Hofstallgasse is not possible. All buses with a maximum total height of 3.70 m must immediately exit to a bus terminal or a parking lot after guests disembark, and can pick up their guests in Hofstallgasse immediately after the performance.
• Special terminal for tour buses over 3.70 meters in total height
  For tour buses over 3.70 m in total height, there is no direct access to Hofstallgasse due to the Neutor closure and limited driving heights at Klausentor and in Münzgasse (max. 3.70 m in total height). However, a special bus terminal will be established near the Festspielhaus on Reichenhallerstraße with an attendant for about 3-4 tour buses with valid bus vignettes exclusively for boarding and alighting guests. The walking distance through Neutor to the Festspielhaus is only about 290 meters.
  No parking for buses on Reichenhallerstraße is possible.
  To avoid traffic jams, all buses must leave the terminal immediately after quick boarding or alighting of guests and head for a public bus terminal or a parking space, and can pick up their guests at the special bus terminal on Reichenhallerstraße immediately after the performance.

Year-round (except Salzburger Festspiele in summer and Advent)

• Please note the above instructions for access during the Neutor closure!
• Access for boarding and alighting is possible 1 hour before and until 1 hour after the performances (only after consultation with the organizer)

Salzburger Festspiele

• Please note the above instructions for access during the Neutor closure!
• Access to the Festspielhäuser in Hofstallgasse is only possible with a vignette (requests every year starting December 1 via: busvignette@salzburgfestival.at)

Advent

• Please note the above instructions for access during the Neutor closure!
• A bus vignette is required for priority access to Hofstallgasse for boarding and alighting. This is only issued for guests of the Salzburger Adventsingen and the Salzburger Hirtenadvent. Tour buses must register in advance. Please contact the respective organizer:
  - Salzburger Adventsingen at the Großen Festspielhaus (as well as a link to the access info)
  - Salzburger Hirtenadvent in the Großen Universitätsaula
• Access to these two Advent events is allowed up to 1 hour before and after the booked performance.
  
• TIP! To avoid possible difficulties accessing Hofstallgasse, we recommend using the bus terminals in Nonntal or Paris-Lodron Straße for boarding and alighting.

• Before 7 p.m., the Paris-Lodron terminal must be used, online booking is required in advance!
• After 7 p.m., stopping is permitted in Schwarzstraße (only on the side of the event venues) while complying with the road traffic regulations for boarding and alighting.
• Note: Access from Schwarzstraße to Makartplatz is closed (construction site until at least July 2029)
