The Sound of Music - Perspectives on the Past and Future
Around the world, people associate Leopoldskron Palace with “The Sound of Music”. To mark the anniversary, the Salzburg Museum is showcasing a special exhibition at this iconic location, featuring exhibits about the history of the von Trapp family.
The magnificent Leopoldskron Palace and its pond served as the backdrop for one of the key scenes in “The Sound of Music”. The Salzburg Museum is now staging a "guest performance" here, presenting a special exhibition as a preview of the new Museum, which will open in Hellbrunn in 2026.
The Sound of Music-museum will offer comprehensive insights into the true story of the von Trapp family, the Broadway musical, and the films. "Facts and fiction," artifacts, documentary photos, movie posters, programs, and much more will bring the life of Maria von Trapp and the cinematic fairy tale starring Julie Andrews to life. The museum site will also include the famous “Sound of Music” gazebo.
Visits are only possible as part of free guided tours.
