City Walk: Salzburg Festival
What would Salzburg be without the Festival? It is an unparalleled combination of opera, drama and concert – and adds a touch of glamour to the city of Mozart. During a walk through its quaint alleyways, you will find exciting locations, names of famous artists and of course the most beautiful photo spots.
On the trail of the festival city
The starting point of this walk is the Festival Houses in Hofstallgasse. Along the route you encounter famous names such as Herbert von Karajan – whose birthplace is, of course, on the way – and historical venues and performance spaces such as the Mozarteum or the Salzburg Landestheater. Other stops include the Residenz, a symbol of Salzburg's history as a city of music, and Domplatz, probably one of the most impressive theatre stages in Europe. It is also possible to extend the walk to Leopoldskron Palace, where Max Reinhardt resided and founded the Salzburg Festival.
- Distance: 3,5 km (+4 km to Leopoldskron Palace)
- Walking duration: 1,5 hours (or. 2,5 hours)
