The certified tourist guide (Austria Guide) Mag.a Christiana Schneeweiß is a passionate art historian and has more than 30 years of professional experience in tourism.
Discover the uniqueness of Salzburg - music and art as a universal language. This entertaining old town tour (75 min) perfectly prepares you for your visit to Salzburg and the following concert at Salzburg Cathedral. (Starts at 12:03 PM - Music at Noon)
This event takes place as a public tour at specific times in German. For groups (up to 25 people), this event can also be booked on other days, in English/Italian.
Following the city tour, you have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour inside the cathedral led by your guide, an art historian (conservation fee) - you will experience Salzburg Cathedral in its unique synthesis of theological, architectural, and musical expression - a typical Salzburg specialty - this will be explained to you against the backdrop of contemporary history.
With the conservation fee (€ 5), you support Salzburg Cathedral. You can choose from three options for this tour:
- an engaging city tour as a well-founded introduction to Salzburg's history and culture
- supplementary tour - (interior visit of the cathedral before the concert)
- complete package (cathedral tour and the concert as a crowning conclusion) to the city tour as a unique overall experience
On this tour, you will gain insight into the humanistic-Christian rhetoric (language) inherent in Salzburg's early Baroque architecture and imagery. You will understand the unique progressive worldview of a church that was on the verge of greater openness to the world and sought to initiate a path to peace. You will get to know the world-unique city ensemble (UNESCO World Heritage) in its unique mission. Together with musical and stage works, the heart of the old town served as a stage for an all-encompassing community that aims to evoke and strengthen the interconnectedness of people.
Only with knowledge of the rich centuries-old music and stage practice in Salzburg does W. A. Mozart's work become truly comprehensible.
