festival opening 2025
From July 18 to 20, 2025, Salzburg will become a stage for everyone. At the “Festival Opening Festival” there will be music, theater, dance and much more - free of charge and accessible to everyone.
Every summer, the Salzburg Festival begins with a special event: the “Festival Opening”. From July 18 to 20, 2025, the city of Salzburg is transformed into a huge stage. There will be concerts, plays, dance performances and other events at many locations in the old town. Everyone is invited to join in and enjoy the culture.
Admission is free, but free tickets are required for some events. These will be available from July 5, 2025. The exact program will also be published from this date.
The “Festival Opening Celebration” follows the idea of Max Reinhardt, one of the founders of the Salzburg Festival: The whole city should become a stage. It is an invitation to everyone to experience art and culture together.
