Orchestra Guest | Spiritual Overture • Fate
Since 2012, the Spiritual Overture has been dedicated in the early days of the Salzburg Festival to the centuries-old tradition of sacred music. In addition to a thematic focus, these concerts are closely linked in content with the overall program.
Under the direction of conductor Ingo Metzmacher, the ORF Radio-Symphony Orchestra Vienna interprets the oratorio by Hans Werner Henze. The work combines soprano, baritone, spoken voice, mixed choir, and orchestra, telling the tragic story of the famous raft.
Participants include the Bavarian Radio Choir, the WDR Radio Choir, and the Salzburg Festival and Theater Children's Choir. Soloists are Kathrin Zukowski, Georg Nigl, and Jakob Diehl.
