Salzburg Festival Whitsun 2025 - Hotel Metamorphosis
The Salzburg Whitsun Festival of 2025 will feature music spanning five centuries, either created in Venice, inspired by its rich cultural legacy, or composed in tribute to this timeless city.
Hotel Metamorphosis
The reputation of Antonio Vivaldi, one of the most renowned Venetian musicians, was for a long time based purely on his instrumental works. The wide variety of his music was rediscovered thanks to Cecilia Bartoli's 1999 Vivaldi album. At the 2025 Whitsun Festival, Vivaldi's music is combined with Ovid's Metamorphoses, a mythological narrative poem written in the 1st century AD on the theme of the constant transformation of all being.
A pasticcio with music by Antonio Vivaldi in two acts.
Texts by Ovid in the translation by Hermann Heiser, version by Barrie Kosky and Olaf A. Schmitt.
