.....Sofferte onde Serene...
In the 19th century, Venice held a special attraction for artists, especially composers from the north who were influenced by the Romantic aesthetic. Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt, who both favoured this artistic movement, gave their last concert together in the city in 1883. For Luigi Nono, who was born in Venice, Venice was both an acoustic and an inspirational city, and the sea that surrounds the city found expression in his music.
