Stiftung Mozarteum - Großer Saal
The Grosser Saal, completed between 1911 and 1914 in the late historicist style, stands as the largest and most illustrious venue of the Stiftung Mozarteum, located on Schwarzstrasse.
With its exceptional acoustics, it offers an extraordinary setting for performances ranging from intimate solo recitals to grand orchestral concerts for up to 776 guests. As one of the key venues for the Salzburg Festival, the hall hosts renowned concert series, including the celebrated Mozart Matinees. Its opulent surroundings not only provide a spectacular atmosphere for musical events but also serve as an impressive location for corporate functions, product launches, and shareholder meetings. It can accommodate gala dinners and receptions for up to 200 guests. The adjoining foyers (City Foyer and Grand Foyer) further enhance the venue, offering elegant spaces for catering and events.
The Grosser Saal, with the renowned Propter Homines organ, underwent a comprehensive renovation and modernization from 2020 to 2022, and has since regained its magnificent splendour. In 2023, the architectural design of the foyers was awarded the prestigious Austrian State Prize for exemplary revitalisation and modernisation of a cultural institution.
