Red Bull Arena - Salzburg Stadium
Close to the beautiful Klessheim Castle on the outskirts of Salzburg, the Red Bull Arena is Austria's largest football stadium and seats 30,188 fans.
Construction of the Red Bull Arena began in 2001 and it was opened in 2003 for around 18,000 spectators. Just two years later, for the European Football Championship in Austria and Switzerland, the arena's spectator capacity was increased to 30,188. Today, the arena is also open to the public on non-match days, inviting fans to take a look behind the scenes on an arena tour.
The stadium in Salzburg provides 2,000 parking spaces – more than any other stadium in Austria – as well as its own motorway connection (exit 'Klessheim'), bus connection and an S-Bahn [suburban train] stop. Bus lines 1 and 28 leave from 'Salzburg Hauptbahnhof' [main train station] to the stop 'Kleßheimer Allee', the S-Bahn line 3 to the stop 'Taxham Europark'. Stadium tickets are also free bus and train tickets and are valid on match days as a network ticket six hours before the start of the match until the end of operations. The offer is valid for the route network in the entire province of Salzburg including Freilassing-Bahnhof (line S3) and on the corridor traffic via the Kleines Deutsches Eck (line 260).
