Lammerklamm
About 30 km south of the city of Mozart lies an impressive gorge: the Lammerklamm. Experience a hike for the whole family there from April to the end of October.
The Lammerklamm shows the impressive power of water. The narrow valley was carved by glaciers during the Ice Age (around 15,000 to 30,000 years ago), and the massive amounts of melting ice left behind a narrow gorge with steep rock walls over a length of one kilometer. The breakthrough of the Lammer is one of the most spectacular natural spectacles in the Salzburg region.
The gorge has been accessible to visitors since 1884. You can explore the Lammerklamm from April to the end of October. The secured paths along the rock walls make for a safe visit. The trail leads you down to the roaring waters and to the most beautiful viewpoints. With a bridge, you can cross the gorge at a narrow point.
Particularly impressive is the “Dark Klamm”, where the water has carved itself in extremely narrow. The two rock walls come within 1 meter of each other and seem to touch. Like under a roof, you can only hear the rushing water here.
Before the exit of the Lammerklamm, the “High Bridge” must be crossed. Approximately 30 meters above the water, you are presented with a memorable view back into the gorge and an equally interesting view of the Tennengebirge mountains.
The opening hours can be found on the official website.
