REFRESH AT HANGAR-7
After more than two decades of its iconic existence, Hangar-7 and the Ikarus restaurant will undergo a major refresh in the first quarter of 2025 and will be closed from January 20, 2025, to May 2025.
During this time, two different Hangar-7 pop-up locations will open from February 1 to April 30, 2025, so you can continue to indulge in culinary delights: the Pop-Up in Getreidegasse and a Pop-Up near Untersberg.
Hangar-7 at Salzburg Airport is a unique architectural masterpiece and houses a large collection of historic aircraft from the Flying Bulls.
Hangar-7 has become a new landmark of the city of Salzburg thanks to its extraordinary architecture.
From the very beginning of its planning, an effort was made to architecturally realize the world of aviation and create a unique space where its flowing forms can be experienced in three dimensions with all senses.
When standing inside Hangar-7, a heavenly vault seems to open above the historic aircraft. Looking at the structure from the outside, one is reminded of a wing that radiates incredible dynamism and weightlessness—despite the 1,200 tons of steel and 380 tons of special glass used in its construction.
Art is not presented intrusively in Hangar-7, but is stylishly embedded in the environment. This is guaranteed by the unique atmosphere created by the imposing glass roof of Hangar-7. The exhibited works are bathed in different, pleasant light depending on the weather or the position of the sun.
In Hangar-7, artists and visitors meet on equal footing. It is a gathering place for all art enthusiasts; the term "art gallery" would not do justice to its role as an exhibition venue. Hangar-7 is rather a place of exchange where artists and art lovers inspire each other mutually. A place that is enlivened by this exchange and thereby promotes an intriguing contrast between the exhibition themes: technology in all its forms on one side and art on the other.
The Flying Bulls in Salzburg dedicate themselves to the art of finding rare historic aircraft, lovingly restoring them, and giving them wings again.
In the summer of 2003, Hangar-7 was opened at Salzburg Airport, becoming the home of the Flying Bulls. A significant feature of the historic collection of the Flying Bulls: The exhibits are much more than just collection pieces. All aircraft of the Flying Bulls, regardless of age, are airworthy.
