Salzburg Lokalbahn [local rail service] S1+S11
The Salzburg Lokalbahn is the ideal connection between the town of Salzburg and its surroundings. The S1 travels from the Lokalbahnhof [local railway station] via Bürmoos to Lamprechtshausen and back. The S11 is the extension to Ostermiething in neighbouring Upper Austria.
The two lines S1 and S11, with a collective travel distance of 38 kilometres, are a sustainable alternative to private transport. They make a visit to the Silent Night village of Oberndorf just as simple as the 30-minute walk from the Bergheim stop to the pilgrimage church of Maria Plain.
- The Lokalbahn runs in half-hour intervals from 5 am until 11 pm with extra express trains every 15 minutes during peak times. On weekends and before public holidays the S1 runs additional services at 1:00 am and at 2:00 am from Salzburg and at 11:55 pm, 00:55 am and 1:55 am from Ostermiething and 00:10 am, 1:10 am and 2:10 am from Lamprechtshausen to Salzburg.
