Salzburg Festival Whitsun 2025 - .....Sofferte onde Serene...
The Salzburg Whitsun Festival of 2025 will feature music spanning five centuries, either created in Venice, inspired by its rich cultural legacy, or composed in tribute to this timeless city.

In the 19th century, Venice exerted a special attraction on creative artists, particularly composers from the north, influenced by the aesthetic ideals of Romanticism. In 1833, Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt – both enthusiasts for the movement – gave their final performance together in the Teatro La Fenice. Luigi Nono, a native Venetian, drew inspiration from the city and its sounds; the surrounding sea, especially, found expression in his music.
